DataKind was founded in New York, in 2011, but now has a UK office in London. The organisation’s mission is to connect data experts with social-change organisations in order to help those organisations increase their impact through data expertise such as analytics and algorithm work. It was worked with a range of clients, all the way up to powerful organisations like Amnesty and the Grameen Foundation.
DataKind achieves this through a range of projects: hackathon-style Data Dives, consultancy work, Labs projects involving multiple stakeholders and longer term projects working on a systems level. The team also runs a range of events and workshops designed to increase awareness and skills around the potential of harnessing data for social change.
